What to Have Ready
For a first consultation, the ideal bundle: your contract of employment; any handbook or disciplinary policy; the dismissal letter, or your resignation if you resigned; the grievance and disciplinary correspondence, including any investigation report and the notes of any hearing; payslips and your P45 or Revenue employment detail summary; a timeline of events in your own words; and any settlement or exit offer you have been given. Missing pieces are normal — call anyway. The two facts that matter most on day one are the date you were told and what notice, if any, you were given, because between them they fix the date of dismissal and the six-month clock.
